Flat Springs
Â
Atlantic Precision Spring is a leading USA-based manufacturer of custom flat springs and metal clips. We specialize in converting complex designs into high-performance components for electronics, sensors, and aerospace applications.
Technical Specifications & Capabilities
We work with a broad spectrum of material dimensions to meet the needs of both miniature and large-scale assemblies.
- Thickness Range: From ultra-thin 0.003″ (0.076 mm) up to 0.125″ (3.175 mm).
- Maximum Width: Up to 12.00″ (304.8 mm), depending on design intricacy.
- Press Capacity: High-volume power presses ranging up to 100 tons.
Manufacturing & Tooling Options
We select the most cost-effective production method based on your volume requirements and part complexity.
- Progressive Die Stamping: Best for high-volume, complex parts requiring multiple operations.
- Fourslide & Multi-Slide: Ideal for intricate forms that require bending from multiple angles.
- Short-Run Tooling: A cost-effective solution for lower volumes or bridge production.
- Prototyping: All flat springs can be prototyped in our dedicated secondary department to ensure “form and fit” before mass production.
Common Applications
Our flat springs are essential components in a variety of mission-critical hardware:
- Electronics: Connectors, circuit board contacts, and PC board battery contacts.
- Automotive/Industrial: Sensor components and small leaf springs.
- Aerospace:Â High-durability retention clips and tensioners.

When Should I Use Flat Springs?
Flat springs are commonly used to hold other assembly components together in a specific position and may function as flat springs or electrical conductors.
What Is A Flat Spring?
Flat springs work like a spring and are small, stamped metal components that are used within small intricate spaces.
How Do You Make A Flat Spring?
We offer a variety of flat spring manufacturing options including fourslide stamping, multi-slide tools, progressive die stamping, short-run tooling or a combination of these methods to ensure we are manufacturing to your specifications.

Engineering Assistance

Tight Tolerance Flat Spring
Engineering assistance is available to maximize the effectiveness of your flat springs. We use a spring design program that selects the optimal material, thickness and temper for your application before creating a flat spring prototype.
Rapid Turnaround Time
Customers can expect rapid turnaround time on all productions from the quote process through prototyping and production runs of our flat springs. We draw upon our years of experience in design and development services for a variety of related components, ranging from micro-miniature flat springs to large intricate metal clips.
Best Equipment
Our well-maintained fourslide machines are able to keep precision flat springs to tolerance requirements due to a rigorous maintenance schedule. All fourslide tooling, progressive diesets and short run tooling are designed with 3D software and built using in-house CNC and wire EDM machines by our own tool and die journeymen.
We Produce Flat Springs in the Following Materials:
- Aluminum
- Stainless Steel
- BrassÂ
- Beryllium
- High Carbon Steel
- Low Carbon Steel
- Nickel
- All types of bimetals
Our ISO 9001:2008 certification assures that the procedures are in place to promote complete customer satisfaction in the production of all precision flat springs. Quality assurance is supported by several processes including a networked statistical process control or SPC. Electronic sensors in progressive die sets and fourslide tooling are also used to detect defects in formed parts during production runs. Sensors such as vision systems with inline machine sensors are available to inspect flat springs to identify defects and prevent out-of-tolerance springs.
